Natural History Group

The aims of this group are to promote and share members' interests in natural history.  This takes the form of outdoor visits and rambles, together with indoor meetings that concentrate on the varied interests of the group. Meetings are generally held on the 3rd Thursday of every month.

All visits and talks start at 10.30 unless specified otherwise. Indoor meetings are held in Room 2 at the Community Care Centre. above the Library in the Stokesley Town Close complex.

The past year has seen the Natural History Group numbers increase to 35, with an average of around 15 attending each  meeting. Activities have been varied, with an indoor talk covering the progress at Saltholme Nature Reserve and  photo presentations on ‘nature in close-up’, mosses and lichens and a selection of members’ slides and photos.  Outdoor meetings have visited Foxglove Covert,  Saltholme RSPB Reserve,  Nosterfield Nature Reserve, Coatham Marsh and Crowtrees Quarry, so have covered a variety of interests.  These meetings have been organized individually by volunteer members, a format that has proved very successful and every event worked well.
